The University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños came out on top in the July 2024 Master Plumbers Licensure Examinations, ranking first in the top performing schools, with a 93.33% passing rate. Fourteen out of its fifteen examinees passed the exam.
Following UPLB at a close second in the top performing schools is UP Diliman, which posted a 90.91% passing rate. Twenty of its twenty-two examinees passed the licensure examinations.
Several of the Iskolar ng Bayan who took the examinations also landed in the top ten spots of successful examinees. They are: Frances Elaisah C. De Salit of UPLB, who landed in the fifth top spot with a rating of 86.20%; Alfonso Miguel Z. Santos of UP Diliman, who also landed in the fifth top spot, with the same rating of 86.20%; and Psyche Desiree Een B. Castillo, also from UP Diliman, who placed in the tenth top spot with a rating of 85.40%.
A total of 2,936 examinees from 327 schools, colleges, and universities from all over the country took the exams, with the average passing rate for examination takers at 47.43%.
The Master Plumbers Licensure Examination is an accreditation exam conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission for individuals who wish to have the license to engage in the practice of plumbing. The profession covers all work related to plumbing works, including the design, installation, as well as inspection of necessary materials. It also includes the preparation and construction of pipings necessary for storm and sanitation drainage systems, sanitary venting of facilities, hot and cold water systems, as well as the sewerage systems of buildings.
