The University of the Philippines has partnered with Metro Pacific Health — the largest group of private hospitals and other healthcare facilities in the country — to provide university employees broader access to responsive, high-quality medical services.
The memorandum of agreement was signed April 8 at the Executive House, UP Diliman.
The partnership is a step toward implementing the Expanded Enhanced Hospitalization Program for the benefit of UP faculty, research extension and professional staff, administrative staff, and frontline personnel.
Representatives from MPH-affiliated hospitals joined UP President Angelo Jimenez and UP Vice President for Administration Augustus Resurreccion in the ceremonial signing. In attendance were high-ranking officials of the Marikina Valley Medical Center; Diliman Doctors Hospital, Inc.; Commonwealth Hospital and Medical Center; Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital; Dr. Jesus C. Delgado Memorial Hospital; and De Los Santos Medical Center. Online attendees include representatives from Davao Doctors Hospital; Riverside Medical Center, Inc.; and Medical Center Imus (Inter-Medical Unified Systems, Inc.).

Jimenez emphasized in his message the importance of expanding partnerships with healthcare providers. “We need to bring health services to where they are needed.” He also outlined the initiatives introduced in the previous years to ensure security and holistic well-being for “the humans making this institution work.” These include additional contributions to the UP Provident Fund, increased benefits, and expanded health services.
MPH Network Chief Commercial Officer Jessica Abaya, meanwhile, said, “We honor the UP leaders, innovators, hope enablers, and collaborators, and commit to provide all of you healthcare service that’s rooted in medical excellence and compassionate care.”
Under the signed MOA, partner hospitals are mandated to provide appropriate medical care, including diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions, whether on an outpatient or inpatient basis.

The Expanded eHOPE Benefit Program provides UP employees with financial assistance for hospitalization expenses not exceeding PhP 100,000 per year and for medications, with a maximum aggregate amount of PhP 10,000 per year. In particular, the program covers medical/diagnostic procedures, prescribed drugs and medicines, professional fees of PhilHealth-accredited physicians and specialists, expenses for room and board during confinement, pre-operation and pre-confinement medical diagnostics and laboratory procedures, and selected outpatient surgical procedures covered by PhilHealth, along with related medications prescribed upon discharge.
According to Jimenez, UP has partnered with 15 healthcare providers nationwide and is targeting an expansion to 40.
