The University of the Philippines (UP) maintains its lead among the country’s higher education institutions in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR) 2026. Released on June 19, 2025, the national university is ranked 362nd out of 1,501 universities worldwide.
This year’s ranking is a slight dip from the rank UP had in the QS WUR 2025 published last year, where it placed 336th. Last year’s rank was the highest the university had since 2012.
In 2019, the university rose to as high as the 356th rank, before its global ranking once again declined to as low as the 412th spot in 2023 — the lowest since 2012.

Overall, UP rated 40.9 on the criteria for this year’s rankings. The highest rating it received was in Employment Outcomes, scoring 80.8 out of a hundred. This was followed by Employment Reputation where the national university scored 71.1. These two rating illustrate the positive perception graduates of the university receive once they pursue careers in various industries after graduation.
UP also fared well in Sustainability, scoring 68.9 out of 100. The score for its International Research Network is also very good at 66.4. In terms of Academic Reputation, the national university scored 50.6, while in Faculty-Student Ratio, it had 42.7 out of a hundred.

Aside from UP, several Philippine universities also landed on this year’s QS WUR, namely: Ateneo de Manila University at 511st; De La Salle University at 654th; University of Santo Tomas between 851st to 900th; Adamson University at 1001st to 1200th; and Mapua University at 1401st and above.
UP’s ranking in the latest WUR is a manifestation of the university’s continuing commitment of fulfilling its mandate provided by Republic Act 9500 – a testament to its more than a century of pursuing honor, excellence, and public service to the nation.
