UP hosts reception dinner for visiting professors

The University of the Philippines hosted a reception dinner for five visiting professors, Jan. 27 at the Executive House, UP Diliman.

Professors Mark Bray (The University of Hong Kong), Martin Hayden (Southern Cross University, Australia), Ora Kwo (The University of Hong Kong), Roderick Ellis (Curtin University, Australia), and Meng Yew Tee (University of Malaya, Malaysia) compose the international panel of experts invited by the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs to support the office’s conduct of a quality review and institutional assessment of the graduate programs of the UPD College of Education from Jan. 26 to 30.

UP President Angelo Jimenez was accompanied by fellow UP System officials, VPAA Lorraine Pe Symaco, VP for Research and Innovation Joel Marciano, Assistant VPAA for Faculty Development Ian Kendrich Fontanilla, Office of International Linkages Deputy Director Gino Velasco. UPD officials at the event were Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Maria Vanessa Lusung-Oyzon, College of Education Dean Joel Javiniar, and Quality Assurance Office Director Evangeline Amor. With Javiniar were Assistant Professor JP Maligalig and Jayson Ornido. 

The UP Singing Ambassadors, led by Dr. Ed Manguiat, regaled guests with their repertoire, which included songs “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika,” “Moon River,” and “Bente.” 

At the end of the program, Jimenez thanked the visiting professors for sharing with UP their expertise in postgraduate teacher education, curriculum design, and academic quality management.
