Officials from the University of the Philippines and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development formally unveiled the model unit for the Southern Diliman Gardens Rental Housing Project in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Purok Aguinaldo, July 2.
The UP Office of the Vice President for Development, led by OIC and Assistant Vice President for Land Use Planning and Development Karen Ann Jago-on, was joined in the ceremony by UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, Megawide Construction Corporation Chief Operating Officer Frederick Tan, as well as officials from Brgy. UP Campus and the Quezon City government.

The Southern Diliman Gardens Rental Housing Project serves as one of the flagship housing components envisioned for the UP Sustainable Development Goals Park and is also among the pilot socialized rental housing projects under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino or 4PH Program. It seeks to provide decent, affordable, and inclusive housing for UP personnel with low salary grades, as well as for informal settler families residing in Purok Aguinaldo.
The model unit is a 27-square meter space with functioning provisions for water and electricity. Schedules for the unit’s public viewing will be announced by the OVPD.
