February 25 marks the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a defining moment that restored democratic governance in the country. This historic event continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the courage of the Filipino people in advancing freedom, justice, and democracy.
For years, members of the UP community have joined the citizens in their journey to protect human rights and democratic institutions. This month, the UP community honors the legacy of the EDSA Revolution and reinforces its collective commitment to uplifting Philippine society.
In commemoration of this milestone, the UP System enjoins all administrators, faculty, REPS, students, and staff to participate in meaningful and lawful commemorative activities in fulfillment of their academic, professional and civic responsibilities.
February 25 shall likewise be observed as an Alternative Learning Day for students in the entire UP system, promoting a deeper understanding of the nation’s history and persisting challenges, and inspiring active citizenship through learning experiences beyond the classroom.
As the University marks this occasion, it reaffirms its steadfast commitment to democracy, academic freedom, and human rights, and calls on the community to continue the shared pursuit of a just, inclusive, and equitable Philippines.
