Out of 147,437 applicants who took the UPCAT last year, 18,350 have qualified for admission to the University of the Philippines for Academic Year 2026–2027. This figure includes both degree program qualifiers and those on the waitlist.

During a press briefing held at the UP Executive House in Diliman on April 22, 2026—the same day as the release of results—UP President Angelo Jimenez announced that this year’s number of qualifiers is higher than last year’s 17,996 out of 135,256 applicants.

Students from public schools, including science high schools, comprise 57.1% of this year’s qualifiers, compared to 42.5% from private schools—an increase from last year’s 55% and 45%, respectively.

“This increasing percentage of UPCAT qualifiers from public schools has been a consistent trend over the past few years, and this year it continues to move in the same direction,” Jimenez said.

He added that this trend suggests “that the steps we have taken to expand and democratize access to quality UP education are beginning to make an impact in meaningful ways.”

Applicants who have been offered admission must confirm their slot by May 16.
