Soka University officials headed by President Mika Suzuki met with University of the Philippines officials led by President Angelo Jimenez, to express their appreciation for the long-running academic exchanges and cooperative programs between both institutions. Soka University is a private research university in Tokyo, Japan.
The meeting, which provided the opportunity to discuss possible areas for future collaboration, happened Feb. 24 at Balay Kalinaw, UP Diliman.
They were joined by Soka University Global Core Center Director Yoichi Isa; Soka Gakkai Japan representatives Koichi Kawabe and Hiromi Hashide; and the Soka Gakkai International-Philippines delegation, led by directors Hisako Alcantara and Dalisay Serrano, with Hazel Andaya, Just Figuracion, Nobuyuki Ota, and Emmie Miyagawa.
Also present were UP VP for Digital Transformation Peter Sy; Office of International Linkages Officer-in-Charge Mia Pang-Rey and staff members Chynna Riego, Ivan Kurt Monasterial, and Racel Kary Pinas; UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II; OIL Diliman Director Carlene Pilar-Arceo; OILD Partnerships and Communications Section Head Noelle Camilla Rivera; and officers of the UP Philippines-Japan Friendship Club (UP Tomo-Kai) — Ivan Barrantes, Heather Ramos, Arthur Asumbra, and Julian Duran — with their faculty adviser, Dr. Julius Lustro.
