
Representatives of the University of the Philippines and Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions Inc. met on Nov. 4 to discuss the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between both parties that was signed on Sept. 29. This first meeting was held at UP Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The MOU seeks to explore collaboration frameworks in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.


The meeting focused on key collaboration areas: student development, workforce preparation, academic enhancement, thought leadership and joint corporate social responsibility, opportunity creation, and research collaboration. It was followed by a breakout session that tackled technology and research collaboration, academic and talent development, and global and CSR synergies.
UP System officials and faculty members who attended the meeting were: Vice President for Digital Transformation Peter Sy; Assistant VP for Academic Affairs Ma. Shari Niña Oliquino; Office of Student Development Services Director Tristan Nathaniel Ramos; AI Horizons PH Chair Prospero Naval; UP Technology Transfer and Business Development Office Director Luis Sison and Deputy Director Jose Emmanuel Reverente; and UP Diliman Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute Professor Rowel Atienza.
Representing Converge were Senior VP, and Head of People and Culture Mylene Sardinia; VP, and Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Jay-anne Encarnado; Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Jennifer Ambanta; Converge Studios Chief Executive Officer James Mendoza; Head of Business Development Patrick Coralde and Rene Franchesca Estacio of ComClark; and Business Development Manager Apple Ongkiko and Data Center Infrastructure Sales Jason Encarnacion of Dell Technologies.
