Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho is PhilHealth’s President and Chief Executive Officer

The University of the Philippines congratulates its alumna, Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, on her appointment as the new president and chief executive officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. She was sworn into office, Aug. 11 at the Malacañang Palace.

 

Ho brings her decades of experience and expertise in public health and public policy, grounded in UP’s ideals of honor, excellence, and public service.

 

Prior to her appointment, Ho held posts at the Department of Health, where she made great strides toward the delivery of health care to Filipinos. As chief of DOH’s Health Research Division of the Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau (April 2016-February 2020), Ho played a key role in drafting the Universal Health Care Law. She then became director of the department’s Office of Health Promotion and Communication Service (March 2020-January 2023), before rising to the rank of DOH undersecretary (2022), and later to assistant secretary of public health services (January 2023-January 2024). Ho also served as DOH deputy spokesperson (March 2020-December 2023) during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which her team produced infographic briefs.

 

In 2022, she was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men and one of The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service. Two years later, Ho received the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Leadership Award in Public Health Practice. 

 

Ho earned her Doctor of Medicine at UP Manila College of Medicine. She finished her bachelor’s degree in biology, cum laude, at UP Diliman.
