The University of the Philippines welcomed Cardinal Santos Medical Center as an official partner of the UP Women’s Basketball Team.
A memorandum of agreement formalizing the partnership was signed Sept. 29, at the Executive House, UP Diliman.
CSMC Assistant Vice President Jake Christian Solomon and UPWBT Team Manager Patricio Roman Jr. led the MOA signing, with UP President Angelo Jimenez and Dr. Roy Garrido, director of CSMC’s Invasive Cardiology Laboratory and head of the Cardiology Unit of CSMC’s Cardiovascular Institute, as witnesses.
“When the call was made for the alumni to step in and help our sports program, Regent Raul Pagdanganan was one of them who responded,” said Jimenez, recalling the time when UP’s sports program was “in limbo.” He added that CSMC has given its full support to major sporting events the university has launched. “We owe it to those who kept vigil in the dark years of UP basketball.”
Solomon said CSMC’s commitment to the UPWBT student-athletes “goes beyond the scoreboard.” Their goal is to ensure the athletes’ health and well-being on and off the court. “We’re not here just to watch from the sidelines. We’re here to be your trusted health care partner through every training, every challenge, and every victory.”
