Led by Benjie Paras and Ronnie Magsanoc, the UP Fighting Maroons won its first first UAAP basketball championship. The celebratory motorcade was capped by a campus bonfire.
The UP College of Medicine (then known as the Philippine Medical School) opens. It predates the opening of the University proper by 3 years.
