Association of Pacific Rim Universities Chief Executive Thomas Schneider and Senior Manager of Events Joey Chu met with University of the Philippines officials Nov. 25 at Quezon Hall, UP Diliman to discuss preparations for three major APRU events UP will host in June 2026: the APRU 2026 Indigenous Knowledges Workshop, the APRU 2026 Annual Presidents meeting, and the Senior International Leaders Meeting.
Schneider gave an orientation on the international APRU events to be held June 17-25, 2026 in the Philippines. UP President Angelo Jimenez presented his recommendations and reaffirmed that universities act as a moral force in a highly-networked world.
As a network of top universities from 18 economies linking the Americas, Asia, and Australia, APRU promotes dialogue and collaboration among leaders, researchers, and policy-makers in finding practical solutions to global challenges. UP is the only Philippine university in the association.
With Jimenez were Vice President for Academic Affairs Lorraine Symaco; Assistant VPAA (Internationalization) Dolores Cecilia Madrid; Office of the University President Chief of Staff Domingo Lopez; and Professor Abdulmari “Toym” Imao Jr., dean of the UP College of Fine Arts and chair of the UP President’s Committee on Culture and the Arts.
