University of the Philippines officials led by President Angelo Jimenez welcomed New York University undergraduate students Jan. 5 at the Asian Center, UP Diliman.
The undergraduates are enrolled in the NYU-HYU 2026 Winter Course: SDGs to Social Innovation under Dr. Aaron Kim of Hanyang University. Kim and the students were accompanied by NYU program coordinators. Activities in the Philippines are being implemented in partnership with the UP Korea Research Center, the UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies, and the UP Office of International Linkages.

The program aims to foster academic exchange and cross-cultural learning, and the country visit and fieldwork allows the students to learn more about Philippine society, contemporary development challenges, and social innovations that promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Jimenez was joined by other UP System officials, VP for Research and Innovation Joel Joseph Marciano Jr.; Assistant VP for Academic Affairs (Faculty Development) Ian Kendrich Fontanilla, representing VPAA Lorraine Pe Symaco); AVPAA (Internationalization) and OIL Director Dolores Cecilia Madrid; and AVPAA (Student Affairs) Ma.
