The University of the Philippines Diliman College of Law held a simple testimonial dinner Jan. 8 at Malcom Hall, UP Diliman, to celebrate its graduates’ top finish in the Bar Examinations for two consecutive years, the perfect performance of the college’s scholars as well as of the pioneer batch of its extension program in UP Visayas, and its overall passing rate of 94.63%.

“The social determinant of wealth and well-being is as much a matter of the fate of other people who are not as lucky as you are. If we cannot solve inequality in this country, we will forever be plagued with insurgency and criminality. There is no salvation just for you, no success just for you,” UP President Angelo Jimenez reminds the new lawyers in their anticipated journey of success. Photo by Kevin Roque, UPS-MCO.
Jhenroniel Rhey Sanchez topped the 2025 Bar Exams with a 92.7% rating. Fellow alumni in the list of top 20 passers are Marie Shantelle Sarmiento (eighth), Jusmin Terrian Yap (10th), Alfrancis Cabungcal (13th), Ignacio Lorenzo Villareal (15th), and Chinzen Viernes (19th). All four examinees from the extension program in UP Visayas — Evette Jaimee Capungcol, Jules Duke Contreras, Kate Quinco, and Theresa Iana Tan — passed.

The UP Law community, which included Solicitor General and former UP Law Dean Darlene Marie Berberabe, UP President Angelo Jimenez, UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II, current UP Law Dean Gwen Grecia-De Vera, and the UP Bar Operations Commission, attended the celebration.
