The University of the Philippines and Hong Kong Polytechnic University renewed their partnership with a memorandum of understanding signed Jan. 5 at the Institute of Civil Engineering, UP Diliman. The MOU focuses on collaborative implementation of service-learning programs.

The agreement outlines potential areas of collaboration, such as community development projects, cultural exchange activities, implementation support for student facilities and resources, emergency assistance, and regular evaluation of service-learning initiatives.

In his message, UP President Angelo Jimenez shared a bit of advice on partnerships and cooperation: “Make personal connections. This is the age when memory is magnified, experience is remembered, and friendship is valued for the rest of your life.”

HK PolyU Head of the Service-Learning and Leadership Office Grace Ngai, meanwhile, reminded students of the essence of service-learning: “to serve as well as to learn.”
