UP chemists secure top spots in October 2025 licensure exams

Crisandro Allen Rogel Lazo of the University of the Philippines Manila topped the October 2025 Chemists Computer-Based Licensure Examination with a rating of 94.35%. 

Results were released by the Professional Regulation Commission Oct. 22.

UP Diliman’s Carl Brandon Yap Ong and Angelo Robert Banzon Calaguas placed second and fifth, respectively: Ong with 93.65% and Calaguas with 92.8%. Ninth was Joshua Chu Naranjo of UP Los Baños with 92%.

The PRC announced that 842 of 1,150 examinees passed the said exam, resulting in a national passing rate of 73.22%.

UPLB was named top-performing school, with a passing rate of 95.38%. Of its 65 examinees, 62 passed — sixty of whom were first-time takers and two were repeaters. The list of top-performing schools includes institutions with a minimum 50 examinees and a passing rate of at least 80%.

All 47 UPD examinees aced the test. UPM registered a 92.59% success rate with 25 of its 27 test takers passing. UP Visayas had 82.05% with 32 passers out of 39 examinees.

Meanwhile, in the Chemical Technicians Licensure Examination, the 92.50% rating of UPD’s Sakura Tan-Castillo put her at fifth, along with four others.

Passers across the UP System include all 22 from UPD, 53 of 54 from UPLB, all four from UPM, 73 of 74 from UPV, all seven from UP Mindanao, and the lone examinee from UP Baguio.

In the PRC release, it says, “Those who failed to pass the board examination for Chemist but had obtained a rating of at least 70% in any two (2) subjects can register as Chemical Technician.”
