The whole UP System participates in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill led by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Office of Civil Defense, with the UP Resilience Institute providing technical guidance and assessment.
On February 21 (Thursday), the University of the Philippines System will participate in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) to test the University’s evacuation procedures, communication protocol with the Emergency Operations Center, and the capacity to carry out its first response operations among its faculty, staff, and students as it has done in the past three years.
The UP College of Medicine (then known as the Philippine Medical School) opens. It predates the opening of the University proper by 3 years.
